Along with genealogical research, my interest has been naturally focused on families history, in connexion with the 'local history'. It can be called the 'small scale history'.

Several sources can be valuably inspected, in order to make its own opinion on our ancestors way of life. The archives produced by the notaries are true golden mines for this type of research. Marriage settlements, testaments, inventory after a decease, shares between heirs... are directly related to the family intimity, but one do not forget to consider the bills of sale, farming leases, wood cuttings, seigneurial recognitions...

All these data are constituting a useful body of proofs in order to better appreciate the local and national historic backgrounds. Furthermore, the temperament of an individual can be sketched. For example, making bills of sale or purchase at a frantic rate reveals an entrepreneur or trader temperament...
